SUMMARY:Family Promise Host Week
DESCRIPTION:Look for the sign-up tables in the lobby. We hope you would be willing to help families that are experiencing homelessness by helping set up & take down rooms\, preparing and serving meals\, hosting evenings and overnights\, baking\, and do laundry. \n\n\n\nFamily Promise partners with over 30 interfaith congregations across the Valley to provide safe overnight shelter\, food and compassion to families in crisis. \n\n\n\nWAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:\n\n\n\nRoom Setup | Sunday 4:00-5:00pmRoom Takedown | Sunday 6:30am-7:30am(3-4 people for each)Volunteer teams set up the accommodations on Sunday afternoon. This includes blowing up the beds\, making them\, and arranging the rooms for the families. Likewise\, when the families leave\, the following Sunday morning\, volunteers take down and repack all the beds. Rooms are rearranged for usual Sunday morning church activities. \n\n\n\nMeal Preparation | Sunday-SaturdayBring food at 4:30pmDinner is a hot meal and can be prepared at volunteer’s home\, at the church or take out can be brought in as a treat. Please plan to have meal delivered warm to serve 15 people. Crockpots are available. A menu for the week is planned and recipes provided upon request. \n\n\n\nServing Assistants | 5:00pm-7:00pm(2-3 people each night)Help with light food preparation\, serve the guests and clean up after dinner. The volunteers are encouraged to join a dinner table to fellowship with the families. \n\n\n\nOvernight Hosts | 7:00pm – 6:30am(1-2 people each night)The overnight hosts can spend time in fellowship with the families and assist the families with any needs they may have\, but are primarily there for emergencies. Joining the families for dinner is optional but encouraged.Private sleeping accommodations with large\, twin air mattresses with gel foam pads are provided along with bed sheets.On weekdays\, overnight hosts will wake the families up at 5:00am to get ready to board the bus back to the Scottsdale Day Center at 5:30am. On Saturday\, bus pick up is scheduled later-usually around 7:30am. \n\n\n\nLaundry Helpers (3-4 people)Pick up a basket of overnight host sheets\, launder and return the following day. \n\n\n\nVolunteer Bakers (3 people)Overnight guests love home-made baked goods!
