Welcome to our Confirmation Class
Join us for an in-depth journey through the scriptures.
Our FREE Confirmation program is a three-year in-depth study of the scriptures and Luther’s Small Catechism. This program aims to provide a strong Christian foundation for youth, emphasizing the sacraments, commandments, and foundational Christian beliefs. It starts on September 10 and classes will be held every Tuesday from 4-5:30pm.
By the end of the program, students will:
- Understand what it means to profess the Lutheran faith.
- Have a strong foundation in Christ Jesus.
- Learn about the sacraments, commandments, and key Lutheran doctrines.
What is Lutheran Confirmation?
The Victory Lutheran Confirmation program is a three-year in-depth study of the scriptures and Luther’s Small Catechism. During the first year, students will see how all scripture points to Jesus as the Son of God and our Redeemer. The following two years focus on Lutheran beliefs, emphasizing Luther’s Small Catechism and salvation by Grace through Faith.
Why Get Confirmed?
While not required for salvation, confirmation provides a strong foundation for living a Christian life. As Christian parents, you promised to raise your child in the faith during their baptism. Confirmation helps fulfill that promise by building a rock-solid foundation of faith for your child in an increasingly secular world.
Frequently Asked Questions
You do not need to be Lutheran to attend Confirmation. Our curriculum is based on the Bible, our Confession of Faith, and Luther’s Small Catechism. Click here for our Confession of Faith and outline of Luther’s Small Catechism. If you feel that your child will benefit from this curriculum, your child is welcome to attend regardless of their faith background.
Baptism is an important part of the Lutheran faith tradition. In the Bible Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
If your child has not yet been baptized please talk to one of the pastors about receiving this important promise of salvation. Through the waters of baptism your child will receive the unconditional promise that they are saved. We want every child and adult to have this assurance of salvation not through their own deeds or actions, but through the promise made by Jesus on the cross explained in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave us His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
We expect both the parents and the students to take this education seriously by arriving on time and demonstrating a readiness to learn. Your child will be expected to bring their Confirmation materials to class each week. Occasionally there will be homework that will need to be completed in the allotted time frame. Bad language or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Attendance will be taken each week. Make up work will be provided due to sickness or unavoidable absence. Excessive absences will result in not being confirmed.
