Freedom is easy to enjoy and easy to forget, so as we celebrate 250 years of freedom in America, Christians should receive these liberties with joy and gratitude, remember the history and cost behind them, and steward them faithfully for the good of our neighbors. Through the biblical teaching of the Two Kingdoms, we honor earthly government as God’s gift for order and justice, while never confusing America with the kingdom of Christ. Our deepest hope is not in politics, power, or national strength, but in Jesus Christ — crucified, risen, reigning, and sending us into the world as humble, courageous witnesses.
