On the night Jesus knew His “hour” had come, He took a towel and washed His disciples’ feet—showing that serving isn’t a side virtue for Him, but the driving force of His Messianic leadership on the way to the cross. Psalm 51 reminds us that before we can serve like Jesus, we first must be washed by Jesus—cleansed by His mercy and given a clean heart. Then He calls us to walk in His footsteps: to take the low place, die to self, and serve others sacrificially as the cross-shaped way of life.
