Jesus faces temptation in the wilderness and stands firm by clinging to the Word of God, succeeding where we so often fall. Romans 8 shows that real self-control is not surface-level behavior management, but the Spirit reshaping our minds, desires, and lives from within. Because Christ has overcome temptation for us and now lives in us by His Spirit, we are no longer captive to the old self but are given new strength and a new way to live.
